Goodnight, Sweet Prince...

Former President Gerald R. Ford, who declared "Our long national nightmare is over" as he replaced Richard Nixon but may have doomed his own chances of election by pardoning his disgraced predecessor, has died. He was 93.

The nation's 38th president, and the only one neither elected to the office nor the vice presidency, died at his desert home at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

I don't know why... but I loved President Ford. I was just a kid when he was president... but he always seemed like a kind, gentle soul. Such a great man... he will be missed.

He was always made fund of as a "bumpkin" by the press.
However, he was a man of intelligence, kindness, honor and good character.

which was something the country needed after LBJ and NIxon... both of whom seemed to lack something in that area. (Although to be fair, they both did some good things as well.)

as you said... rest in peace.

Yes, we did need someone like Gerald Ford after LBJ and Nixon. In fact, dare I say, that we need someone like him again....

I was too little to remember him - but it is too bad that he had to follow Nixon's debaucle. Too bad his Presidential run was short.
